Folville Junior School

Foundation Subjects

At Folville, our foundation subject curriculum is designed to provide a rich and engaging learning experience that extends beyond the classroom. We believe in the importance of hands-on learning and real-world experiences to deepen our pupils' understanding of the subjects they study. For instance, our Year 3 children visit Beaumanor Hall, where they immerse themselves in local history and the natural environment, bringing their studies to life in a memorable way.

In Year 6, our pupils visit Bletchley Park to complement their learning about World War II. This trip allows them to explore the fascinating history of codebreaking and the significant role it played during the war. Year 5 pupils delve into the history and culture of Benin, gaining insights into this ancient African kingdom and its rich heritage. Meanwhile, Year 4 children enjoy a residential trip to Ullesthorpe, where they engage in various outdoor activities that promote teamwork, resilience, and a love for nature. These experiences are integral to our curriculum, helping to build a deeper connection to the subjects and a lifelong love of learning.

Our curriculum is currently under revision; therefore, completed overviews are not yet ready for publishing. Please speak to their class teacher if you require a copy of the curriculum overview for your child's year.
