Maths
At Folville, our approach to teaching mathematics is rooted in the National Curriculum, utilising the White Rose scheme of work. This comprehensive framework ensures that our pupils build a strong foundation in mathematical concepts through a structured and progressive curriculum. White Rose emphasises a mastery approach, where children develop a deep understanding of mathematical principles before moving on to more complex topics. This method allows children to gain confidence and competence in their mathematical abilities, fostering a love for the subject.
In Years 3 and 4, we enhance our pupils' mathematical fluency through the Number Sense scheme. This programme focusses on developing a strong number sense, enabling children to understand and manipulate numbers with ease. By engaging in activities that promote mental arithmetic and problem-solving skills, children become more adept at handling mathematical challenges. The success of our approach is evident in the improved outcomes and enthusiasm for mathematics amongst our pupils, as they are well-prepared to tackle more advanced mathematical concepts in their future studies.
